El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua
In El Salvador a quick repair of my lemon light... In the words of the inimitable G Blyth, "if you can't fix it with gaffa tape... use more gaffa tape".
I make it to a tiny border town on the edge of Honduras, I want to try and get through two borders and sleep in Nicaragua tomorrow!
A fancy hotel sits incongruous on the edge of very rough border town... worth every dollar, nice armed guard.
Next day is rain free and an easy 20 min ride to the Honduran border.
not too much trouble - paid a little extra to get a stamp without going to the bank..
Moooooove
Honduras is lovely, pretty, rich and green, feels far safer than El Salvador to me. I suppose I was only in the countryside... stunning
have to stop for a mini landslide to be tidied up
Surrounded by volcanic lush, low mountains
and another stop for road works... this chap wearing a balaclava, little bit daunting but used lots against the sun.
Make the next border to Nicaragua in good time, stopped by nicest policeman for a tourism survey
Have to say if i wasn't in a rush to get to Nicaragua I'd have happily spent longer here, very friendly and felt v safe. A shame.
Into Nicaragua and stop in Esteli, a mish mash of a town with casinos and disjointed feel. It was heavily bombed in the civil war and its perhaps missing its center.
Super friendly people though and good Piñata on sale...
hondi San!
